Going into colour

I’ve been drawing a lot in black and white for a project on dogs and have recently jumped into using colour. This little fella seemed a good place to start. Its a very rough drawing just trying to capture the energy of this small but larger than life creature. He’s into everything and bright as a button (why a button I wonder?) I don’t think these little dogs know they’re little. Certainly he has no idea of how short his legs are as he will try and leap up on the sofa and look very surprised when he can’t reach. Maybe that long back gives him an illusion of being taller than he really is. His energy is so vibrant he’s a real mood lifter. He likes being lifted up and cuddled too – very handy and very portable! I feel like I’m writing an advert for him…only one careful owner.
